Lindsay Hemingway

Lindsay grew up in a very musical home. She was sitting at the piano in diapers (yes there are photos), and was singing before she could talk. Lindsay excelled in music courses and practically lived in the band rooms through school. She performed in St. Patrick's Cathedral with her elementary school choir, Disney World with her middle school band, and Carnegie Hall with the SWFL Symphony Youth Orchestra as principle horn in High School. She loved playing and finally began writing seriously in High school, composing her first works on Sibelius in her theory class. She composed new works for piano, junk percussion, and string quartet before graduating in 2014. She started learning to orchestrate and arrange as well, and fell in love with music in a whole new way.

Lindsay Graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Music Performance with a Concentration in Composition and Theory in December of 2018.

While enrolled she studied under Dr. Ben Hjertmann in composition, and Dr. Karen L. Robertson for Horn. She enjoyed her time learning and playing natural horn in the schools Baroque Ensemble under Dr. Alicia Chapman, which spurred her to compose a solo piece for natural horn.

Outside of music, Lindsay loves to write (fiction) and dabbles in photography. She loves playing video games, watching anime (dub), cooking, and playing with her animals! She currently has 4 ferrets, a dog, and a cat.

She is married to her "High School Sweetheart" and currently lives in Newport News, VA.
